Excellent understanding of CD digipak conventions and of layout and design.  Consdier further, how has this  research helped inform your design for a CD digipak that is being used?  Perhap's add a couple of slides to your presentation to explain this?

This is concise work - there is some basic  clear accounts of your planning and research for your music video production day after half term.
I like the way in which decision making is evident along with reflection and revisions, but this is somewhat descriptive rather than analytical at times, for example in discussion of Mise en scene and lighting which are important concepts in terms of the look that you want to promote.

Your cast list has been agreed and you need to be working on the set design and organisation of production. You need to recognise work that other's have completed in your group and identify what you have done - do this with individual evaluation.

Also try not to simply keep posting single images onto blog - use an online tool which helps display the images such as Flickr  Please make sure that you share resources but not evaluation work - which should be an individual effort.

Media Studies - Copyright permission for track

One of the requirements of the Advanced Production unit is that you seek permission for use of any music from the copyright holder (you'll be pleased to hear that seeking permission is all you need - you don't need to receive permission!)

You will need to identify the contact details of your track's copyright holders, which will probably be the record label, and send the relevant person a copy of the following email (with individual details filled out):

Copy for permissions email:

To (name of record label/contact at record label)

We are a group of A Level students working on an A Level project for a qualification in Media Studies. We are writing to request permission to use the following track as part of this project:

Name of track and artist

With your permission the track would be used as the accompaniment to a short form video that is made purely for assessment purposes and will have no commercial usage. The video will be viewed only by members of the school community and the assessor of the examination board.

The artist and the copyright holder will of course be fully recognised in the pre-production and evaluation material that accompanies the project. We can also include a full copyright notice if required both in the planning material and on the video itself.

Yours sincerely

Evaluation of animatic

A storyboard is a graphical representation of the camera shots in a film sequence which are connected together to create a 'narrative flow' A storyboard serves the same function in film making as an outline does in written projects. It enables the film director to visualise the flow of camera shots. Once a paper storey board is produced the director and director of photography can decide how the shots will be filmed and used.

Since we have produced our animatic we can really see how the storey bored will flow and therefore how the production will look. This means we can construct the understanding of the performance and all members of the group can see the same thing instead of individual thoughts. You can see the links made between the narrative and the star image as the star image is young and partiers and the narrative is a party which they are performing at so visual it links up very well.

We could have developed it by producing more storey bored frames there fore producing a more detailed and better flow to the animatic. The digital technology used in producing the animatic is very important because eit shows a very good structural flow to the storey bored with the music which shows a strong indication to the crew what the director wants.

The animatic helps with planning because we as the crew can see the impracticalities of the production or any props that we need as we can see a visual representational the set and characters.

Set Design

This is the set design Ian in my group has pallaned it is of a fairley usual standard liveing room. This has a rased platform but we are now reconsidering this. It also conatins lighting ideas on the side.

Lighting desighn feeback

Today we dissucesd the lighting plan for our set. We talked about the paracticallity of our set and how the lights would effect it. We wre adived to use a mixture of lighting technequies and style throughout. This should be fairley efficant as we are shooting the entire productionj in a single studio.

For the first section we are planning to use naturlistic lighting relative to a familly sitting room. This would be standard house lighting for example lamps.

Later on in the video as the production moves on so does the lighting and the mood moves into a more exsiting and less naturalist feel.

This is a strobe light. It will create a more party atmospher. This can be fairley risky to use as videos must be screaned for strobe warning as it can send certaain people into fits.

Thease are UV lights, thease can be used to exspose Uv paint.

We also also considering useing back lighting behind the set walls and create slits or wholes to create an abstract lighting effect.

Cast list

This is the Cast list we submitted to our teacher. Who will choose who we will get tackeing into condiaration are reasoningings for each cast member.

Main Guy - Tom Simpson, Jack Barton, Ed Nightingale,
• Singer/Guitarist - Tom Barnet, Jack Barton, Bobby
• ʻElectric Girlʼ - Jess Adam, Ella,
• Bass/Background Singer - Tom Barnet
• Synth/Drums - Philip,
Dancers
• Bethany
• + 4 more

Crowd - Whoever is in PS or wants a bit role on the day.

Reasons for casting
Ed: Even though he is an A2 student, from past experience we know that he can act and
would fit the role exactly. From seeing him in drama productions last year, we know that he
can act well. Also he very much fits the look of the character that our group had in mind.

Ella: Was our second choice for the 'Electric Girl', and we chose her in the end because
our first choice looked to similar to the main character we were casting and we need
contrast between the two. She also does drama, which is why we chose her over our first
choice.

Philip: We chose him as the synth and drum machine player for the band, as he DJ's
professionally at home in Germany, this meens it would look after more realistic and natural. And will have benefits in trying too shoot him as he will know what he is doing. He also looks suitably 'indie' and
from a performance back at the boarding house, we know that he will look fine on camera.
Our other cast members have not been solidly decided, but we have the following
down as prospectives:

Tom B: Can play both bass and guitar to an acceptable standard, and is an option for
either the guitar or bass player. He can also sing, and has had much praise from his music
teachers. At the moment our only proposition for a bass player

Bobby: Is an incredible singer and guitar player, and has a quite mysterious look about
him. He would fit the desired image of the bandʼs frontman perfectly. He is our first choice
for the frontman, but we still need to ask him.

Jack: Does theatre, can act well and can sing acceptably. He is our backup man in case
the above two are unavailable for some reason.

Tom S: Our backup in case for some reason Ed is unavailable or taken ill on the shoot day.
Jess: Initially our first choice as the 'Electric girl', she has become our backup as her facial
features are too similar to Ed's, and in case Ella is missing on shoot day
